Well you’re reading this because you’re lucky enough to live in the Peterlee area and you’ve received a leaflet from us! I know, I know, it’s not often someone tells you that you’re lucky to live in Peterlee, but so do I.

I’d imagine you’d like to know what this “PC Tune Up” consists of exactly, and why you should part with £30 of your hard-earned money to receive one.

I imagine you remember getting a clean new computer, and within a few minutes of using it you realise that it was worth every penny. It loads quickly, shuts down quickly, doesn’t have any error messages and ready to set it up how you want it.

Unfortunately, if you’re on the internet then it doesn’t matter how much power your computer has, after a few months, say 6 months from new, the computer has slowed down considerably.

You’re probably getting annoying error messages, Google or Yahoo toolbars etc that take up room at the top of your web browser, or perhaps silly little applications loading up that you have no idea what they’re there for.

The computer probably takes longer to load and even longer to shut down. Perhaps you’re seeing Anti Virus subscription warnings. The list is endless!

We use a time-proven, step-by-step process that we have used many times for many years, to bring your PC back to health. We’re experts at it really, and have designed the process to be so simple and efficient that we can literally transform your PC within 2 hours.

So you might be thinking “Well why don’t I just re-install Windows?”

Well yes, this is something that many people struggle with. We are always getting phone calls from people of all varieties asking for advice on re-installing Windows, and simply put, we don't recommend doing it if you're an amateur because there are significant down sides to it:

•    Are you sure you can re-install all the software that you actually need?
•    Do you have ALL the drivers you need to get your hardware running again?
•    I bet you’ve forgotten about the Windows Service packs that won’t be installed with your recovery CD, leaving you open to software incompatibility and security vulnerability issues.
•    Have you backed up EVERY piece of information you need, for example do you know how to save your Internet Favourites?
•    Can you afford to be without your computer for a number of days and spend hours trying to recover your system in the event you did forget something?

I know all these problems first hand – 15 years ago, when I was new to computers,  I did this on my own PC many times, and am all too familiar with the heartache and frustration associated with something so simple like forgetting the modem drivers – and then not being able to get back onto the internet to download them.

The system overhaul is non intrusive. We don’t dramatically change your settings, the software you need, the way you have things set up the way you like and know. We scan your system for a multitude of problems, and correct them. We install the software you can use in future to keep your system running at peak performance for much longer. We will provide you with the free Anti Virus software for home users so you never have to pay money on Anti Virus again – without compromising on security or quality.

The process that we use is as follows:

•    Full Malware scan and clean (Trojans, Search Hijack, Spying Software)
•    Removal of Browser add-ons that may be causing problems (Google & Yahoo Toolbars, Google Updater)
•    Removal, with your consent, of software you don’t use.
•    Load the computer from a CD to a clean version of Windows to perform a full, thorough scan of the computer for viruses, and removal if any are found.
•    Perform a number of disk checks and fixes which checks the integrity of the files on your hard drive, and fixes any errors found.
•    Check your existing Anti Virus software and if not in place, install a “Free for Home Use” AV solution (these are as good as the paid ones – they charge for business use and hope you’ll recommend them to your boss to buy!)
•    Ensure your version of Windows is up-to-date with latest service packs.
•    Update Internet Explorer
•    Check Internet explorer to ensure it has the common add-ons, e.g. Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash player etc.
•    Disable a number of the programs that start up in the background on the computer that are infrequently used, or can be loaded only when needed.
•    Make sure your device drivers are all installed.
•    Ask if you’re having any frequent error message that show themselves and stop this from happening.
•    Remove temporary files and windows update temporary files.
•    Free up as much space on the drive as possible.

•    We’ll open up your computer and remove the dust from important components and fans which builds up and causes the computer to overheat and crash.
•    Finally we’ll leave your computer to run a disk defragmentation, which often takes a number of hours if it’s never been done before, but is always the last step to make sure your computer is running as smoothly as possible.

As you can see, there are a lot of steps, and you may not understand any of that but that’s ok, please take my word for it that following these steps, using the software we’ve found to be most effective is THE best way to restore your PC to nearly-new performance!

There’s no time to lose, this offer is only available if you book your overhaul in August and normally costs £45 for the 2 hours.
If you have two computers the total charge will be £50 incl VAT
